Ricky Larry is a multidisciplinary artist living and working in Brisbane, Australia. Born in Sydney and raised between cities, he moved to Brisbane at the age of 12, a transition that shaped his enduring interest in place, memory, and identity. His practice weaves together painting, installation, and conceptual works to explore the strange and tender moments of contemporary life.

Ricky’s art often investigates themes of belonging, disconnection, and the quiet absurdity of modern Australian culture. With a focus on the personal and the poetic, his work reflects a search for meaning in the overlooked or in-between, suburban streets, roadside architecture, fleeting gestures, and moments of disorientation. His imagery can be both confronting and humorous, inviting the viewer to sit with discomfort and beauty at the same time.

At its core, Ricky’s work asks how we relate to the spaces we inhabit, physically, emotionally, and spiritually, and what it means to make sense of the world when the familiar becomes strange.
